This made the automobile affordable to the middle class.
Originally, automobiles were steam and electrically powered. But Karl Benz invented the first gas powered automobile in 1885. After that, the cars have evolved into what we know today. The automobile is a major part of our daily lives, we can’t imagine life without them.
During the 1910s and 1920s, women wanted more independence from men. They needed the money to buy a car so they could go out with their friends. This led to the suffrage movement, resulting in the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920. The automobile gave women the ability to vote, which was a huge change in society.
