Mark Six is one of the most popular lottery games in Hong Kong and is run by the HKJC (Hong Kong Jockey Club). It has been around since 1975 and has become an iconic part of the city’s culture and heritage. The game’s prize structure has been changed several times through the years and currently it features 6 prizes tiers. Bets are accepted until approximately 15 minutes before the televised draw.
The HKJC takes many steps to ensure the fairness of the draws. It has employees in the security and customer service departments who strictly check everything from boxing to transport to the actual balls used for each draw. The balls are also measured, weighed and examined for any flaws on a regular basis. Moreover, the same set of balls is not used for two consecutive draws.
The HKJC is one of the largest donors to charities and community projects in Hong Kong. It has contributed over HK$ 200 million in the past decade alone. The charity donations are spread across a variety of areas including sports development, healthy lifestyles, job opportunities and cultivation of culture and arts.
